Experience farm life in Namibia! The farm is situated at the foot of the Etjo mountain. Omaha means "the place where one can live". The farm lies 200 km from Windhoek in the direction of Otjiwarongo. An excellent break on your journey to Etosha, Damaraland or Bushmanland. A large part of the farm is taken up by the north-eastern part of the Etjo mountain The Etjo itself forms a narrow plateau - 16 km long with a maximum width of 3 km.
The highest point of the mountain is 2086 m above sea level. Mount Etjo is an erosional relic with a capping of 70 meters hard Etjo sandstone. The saddle of the mountain forms the watershed between the "Omaruru" river running to the west and the "Omatako" river which runs to the east. We are farming with cattle, goats and sheep. As we have some "cats" e.g. leopards and cheetah on the farm, all calves and lambs have to stay at the house, in kraals, for about three months, to avoid losses. The goats are cared for and looked after by a herder accompanied by an Anatolian shepherd dog. |
